BelGioioso Cheese, Inc. is one of two Wisconsin cheese companies making Mascarpone cheese. In 1979, Errico Auricchio brought his cheesemaking heritage and traditions from Italy to the small town of Denmark, Wis., with the goal of making great Italian cheeses. BelGioioso Cheese is the product of his success, producing a complete line of Italian cheeses, made with authentic Italian recipes from the freshest Wisconsin cow’s milk.
With a strong commitment to quality, BelGioioso Cheese has been producing award-winning Italian cheeses for more than 20 years. The company has eight state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities located in the surrounding areas of Denmark. Each plant specializes in a specific cheese that is produced there daily, by the same cheesemakers, guaranteeing that BelGioioso’s high standards of excellence are met. All cheeses are manufactured, aged, finished, packaged and shipped directly from BelGioioso’s, ensuring full quality control of the products from start to finish.
BelGioioso also has a Wisconsin Master Cheesemaker, Gianni Toffolon. Originally from Cremona, Italy, Gianni moved to Wisconsin in 1979. Toffolon is certified as a Master in Parmesan and Fontina cheeses.
Belgioioso has received numerous accolades for its cheese including recent first place finishes at the 2007 ACS Annual Cheese Competition for Mascarpone and Provolone cheese.
